Julia enjoys traveling, and recently spent time raising money and awareness for poverty by cycling across North America.

She loves to be busy, on the go and active.  She is committed to proper education, higher learning in all aspects, attitude over aptitude, and developing each students’ character. She loves children and how they learn individually.  Every day brings something new to learn and live by.  She loves to teach at CCA and enjoys being part of a team so committed to the best interest of the children.

Kathryn Chapman Kathryn Chapman – Grade 5

Kathryn has been teaching at CCA since 2007. She received her Bachelor of Arts majoring in History, minoring in English and World Religions from Carleton University. She then received her Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University. Kathryn has been teaching for 13 years and has taught in both the Renfrew and Upper Canada District School Boards. Kathryn taught at CCA for a year and then transferred her own children to the school.

One of the many appeals of CCA is that children are loved for all they are and all they will someday be. Children are encouraged, always, to be the person that God made them to be and explore the gifts and abilities that He gave them. CCA does naturally what many schools attempt in character education. Kathryn appreciates the many “out-of-the-box” learning opportunities that CCA is famous for. School should make some awesome memories – that definitely happens at CCA!

Suzanne Reid_2 Suzanne Reid – Grade 6

Susanne Reid is in her sixth year teaching at CCA.  She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours, majoring in Child Psychology.  In 1992, she graduated from York University with her Bachelor of Education degree.  From 1992-1997, Susanne taught in the Upper Canada District School Board (previously known as Lanark County Board) teaching children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 7/8.  She stayed home full-time raising her three children until the fall of 2004 when she began her teaching career at CCA.

Susanne loves being a teacher, surrounded by children, and using the gifts/talents that God has given her.  Seeing the children grow and improve in many different ways is a joy to her.  Her love of sports and being active is evident in her teaching and how she presents herself to her class.

Susanne is passionate about CCA and how the school not only teaches the child excellent academics but how it molds the character of the child.  The idea of an extended family comes to her mind when she thinks about CCA.  It is not only a building, but a family where children came be loved, cared for, and nurtured in God’s abundant grace.

Melissa Wharran Melissa Wharran – Grade 7

Melissa graduated from the Queen’s-Trent Concurrent Education program with an Honours in History. Students are encouraged to take risks and make mistakes, knowing that they are in a safe, supportive Christian environment.

Melissa has an immense passion for environmental education, graduating from Trent University with an emphasis in Environmental Science. It is her desire to share this passion with her students using fun, hands-on activities and getting the students familiar with the “outdoor classroom”. There, students will develop empathy, respect and ownership for God’s creatures, the environment and each other.

Melissa’s interests include athletics of all kinds, especially fastball and hockey. She loves to stay active and loves to laugh! CCA has become a second home, and she is proud to work beside such dedicated educators.
